This initiative demonstrates how hospital plastic waste <strong data-start=\"358\" data-end=\"377\">uncontaminated<\/strong>, normally destined for incineration, can instead be valorised and transformed into <strong data-start=\"471\" data-end=\"506\">new packaging materials<\/strong> through <strong data-start=\"515\" data-end=\"543\">advanced chemical recycling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"546\" data-end=\"883\">This project represents an exemplary case of circular economy applied to the healthcare sector, and opens the way to new perspectives in the field of <strong data-start=\"697\" data-end=\"730\">flexible medical packaging<\/strong>A particularly relevant topic for Teamplast Srl, which has been active for years in the production of <strong data-start=\"823\" data-end=\"854\">LDPE and HDPE films and bags<\/strong> for the biomedical sector.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"885\" data-end=\"945\">Collaboration between the chemical, healthcare and packaging industries<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"947\" data-end=\"1388\">The project was born from the collaboration between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sabic.com\/en\/news\/49078-sabic-zuyderland-collaborate-to-drive-circularity?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong data-start=\"991\" data-end=\"1000\">Sabic<\/strong><\/a>, a giant in the chemical industry, and the <strong data-start=\"1039\" data-end=\"1067\">Zuyderland Medical Center<\/strong>, one of the leading healthcare facilities in the Netherlands. The initiative is also supported by specialized logistics operators and <strong data-start=\"1203\" data-end=\"1271\">brands active in the healthcare and medical packaging sector<\/strong>, who share a common vision: to close the loop on medical plastics in a responsible and sustainable way.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1390\" data-end=\"1861\">The process involves the <strong data-start=\"1416\" data-end=\"1452\">uncontaminated plastic waste<\/strong> are collected separately at the source, i.e. in hospitals and health centers. Once collected, the materials are <strong data-start=\"1583\" data-end=\"1623\">transported by qualified operators<\/strong> at the Sabic plants, where they are <strong data-start=\"1661\" data-end=\"1695\">converted into pyrolysis oil<\/strong>This oil represents a secondary raw material, a <strong data-start=\"1751\" data-end=\"1776\">alternative feedstock<\/strong>, which Sabic uses to produce a <strong data-start=\"1813\" data-end=\"1860\">TruCircle certified circular polyethylene<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1863\" data-end=\"2050\">The <strong data-start=\"1866\" data-end=\"1882\">TruCircle PE<\/strong> It has qualitative characteristics comparable to those of virgin polyethylene, but with a significantly lower environmental footprint, thanks to the use of recycled plastic.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2052\" data-end=\"2120\">Concrete results: medical packaging made from recycled plastic<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2122\" data-end=\"2274\">The project has already produced <strong data-start=\"2150\" data-end=\"2173\">tangible results<\/strong> along the entire supply chain.
