When talking about environmental sustainability and protection of the territory, for Teamplast it is not an abstract concept: our headquarters directly overlooks the Po River, in Bondeno di Ferrara. For us, the "Great River" is an integral part of our landscape, our history, and our corporate responsibility.
For this reason we carefully follow the data of scientific projects such as the Manta River Project 2, which analyses the presence of microplastics in the waters of the Po, monitoring its impact and possible sources of origin.
What scientific research has found
The Manta River Project 2, coordinated by ARPAE Emilia-Romagna, Sapienza University of Rome and the Po River Basin Authority, examined for a whole year (2022–2023) six river stations, including Pontelagoscuro, a few kilometers from Teamplast.
Key findings:
- Concentrations of microplastics vary from 0.5 to 4.2 particles per m³
- The fragments represent the 56%, followed by foam (24%)
- THE polymers most detected are PE (polyethylene), PP (polypropylene) And EPS (expanded polystyrene)
- The most popular color is white (57%), followed by black and other shades
The presence of industrial pellets are limited (7%), a positive fact which confirms that many companies are already adopting measures to contain the dispersion of plastic into the environment.
Teamplast's role: producing responsibly, communicating transparently
The study confirms an important message:
The problem is not the plastic itself, but how it is managed, disposed of and recovered..
As producers of flexible packaging in LDPE and HDPE, totally recyclable materials, we feel the duty to contribute to the correct information on real environmental data, based on scientific studies.
Our concrete commitment to the environment
Responsible production
We reduce waste and prevent accidental dispersion of raw materials
100% recyclable
All our packaging is designed for post-use recovery
Collaboration with sustainable partners
We promote a supply chain that is attentive to the territory
Environmental education
We support educational initiatives and content, in line with the most authoritative studies
We live near the Po River. And for this very reason, we believe that businesses must also do their part in protecting our natural heritage.
Information and responsibility first and foremost
Our blog wants to be a space for knowledge, transparency and a technical approach to environmental issues.
We will continue to carefully monitor the evolution of research on microplastics and to promote correct and conscious use of plastic materials.
Because for us sustainability is not a fad, it's a daily commitment.
