To learn more about the history of Teamplast and the people who work there, we had a chat with Simone Costanzelli, Owner of the company together with his brother Cristiano and Sales Director. Here's what he told us
In 2011, together with your brother Cristiano, you founded the company Teamplast, specialized in the production of customized flexible packaging. How did this idea come about?
Our experience in the plastics sector actually has deeper roots because both my brother and I, before founding Teamplast, worked in the family business, which was then called Temedical, specialized in the production of plastic packaging for the medical sector. We soon realized that we could also occupy other production sectors and so the idea of creating a company that would also respond to other market needs was born.
Tell us a little about your professional path: where did you start and where are you today?
Like most kids of my generation, when school finished I spent the summer helping my dad in the company: I did small jobs to help with production and at the same time I learned about the machines and how they worked and above all the art of the trade. In the first few years, once I graduated and had entered the company at full capacity, I was responsible for the management and planning of a production department, working side by side with my production colleagues. Later I took several training courses to become a safety and quality manager, which allowed me to get Temedical several nationally recognized certifications. After a few years I started managing several acquired customers: I have always had a good aptitude for social relations and I liked that role also because it gave me the opportunity to move around Italy and have a dynamic job. In the meantime I was taking a training course that allowed me to become a sales agent. For a while I worked independently, both for the family business and for others, ranging across different sectors. That experience was fundamental to understand that our reality could also become something bigger and that plastic is present in almost all production sectors. Furthermore, it is a reliable, safe and resistant material, difficult to replace with others that almost always have lower yields. I understood, together with my brother, the potential and so in 2011 Teamplast was born. Today we work for over 200 Italian companies, ranging from the medical sector, to the food sector, to fashion, to industry in general. I still follow many clients but in the meantime I have expanded my skills and today I am Sales Director, Quality Manager and I follow the management of the company together with my brother Cristiano and his wife Francesca.
A beautiful story of family and personal growth. How are your products born? Do you follow predefined standards or do you work to measure?
Most of our items are made ad hoc, based on specific customer needs. This is why the number of products grows year after year. Obviously there are also standards that we can propose but this does not prevent us from making customized changes. For example, the shoppers or the envelopes for e-commerce shipping they can have both standard dimensions and be made according to the customer's preferences, larger or smaller or with different thicknesses or special welding that makes them more resistant. Let's not forget the possibility of printing: the graphics or the insertion of logos and other useful information make our articles unique and distinctive.
Why should a company turn to you?
Because we are very careful about quality in everything it represents: from the choice of polymer to use, which makes a huge difference in the final result, to the study of the project that must take into account the use and purpose for which it is created. We are also an eco-sustainable company: there is too much talk about the possible risks deriving from poor disposal of plastic and too little about its benefits. The mere fact that it is potentially recyclable infinite times makes it an eco-friendly material, unlike others that do not have this ductility. The plastics we use are all 100% recyclable and we often reuse those that come from our own industrial waste. And then we are a company that likes to maintain an informal and familiar tone: in Teamplast you speak directly with me or with Cristiano, the relationship is direct and based on trust and this is something that most customers appreciate.
The year has just begun, what resolutions do you have for 2023?
Consolidate what we are doing well in these years and continue to invest in technological efficiency, through the purchase of production machines with a 4.0 perspective. We want to strengthen the sales department because we can go further and expand our network, we are able to reach all of Italy and work for all sectors, even the most delicate ones such as food and medical.
